Primary nutrients

Chaste tree has traditionally been used for many conditions involving the female reproductive and hormonal systems. It has been used to treat premenstrual syndrome, irregular bleeding, menopausal symptoms, swelling in the breasts, hormonal balance, heavy bleeding and frequent periods. There is growing evidence as to the use of chaste tree for healing.

Chaste tree’s activity is thought to center on the pituitary gland in the production of luteinizing hormone, which increases the amount of progesterone in a woman’s body.

A common problem for some women approaching menopause is a decrease in the luteal phase. This is thought to be a result of low production of progesterone. There may be an abnormal ratio between estrogen and progesterone. Chaste tree helps balance the hormones estrogen and progesterone, helping to regulate a woman’s cycle, including time in between menstruation, bleeding and length of period.

Many studies found beneficial results from the use of chaste tree in treating women with gynecological problems, with a decrease in symptoms such as swelling, tender breasts, irritability, anxiety, cravings, depression and fatigue.
