Ginkgo has been revered throughout China and other areas of Asia for thousands of year. Evidence is mounting from research done and currently under way. There is much interest in the benefits of Ginkgo on conditions associated with aging such as Alzheimer’s, memory loss, dementia and circulatory disorders.
Ginkgo is often used to increase the blood flow to the brain, improving memory problems such as in Alzheimer’s, to prevent strokes, and to increase blood circulation through vasodilation. Because of the improved circulation, it is thought to improve ear conditions, help blood flow to the retina, aid in preventing muscular degeneration, reduce frequency of asthma attacks and help transplant recipients avoid rejection.
Ginkgo has been found to aid in arterial blood flow, blood flow to the brain, dementia, brain function, senility, vertigo, heart arrhythmias, tinnitus, depression, memory, and intermittent claudication.
Ginkgo has also been found to be effective in treating migraine headaches.
Consult your health care practitioner before taking Ginkgo with blood thinners such as Coumadin.
